GAMELAN

Gamelan is a traditional music which originated from Indonesia. As the Javanese migration happened in 14th century, this music has been brought to Malaysia. Gamelan is commonly played during formal occasions like weddings and traditional ceremonies.

ANGKLUNG

Angklung is originated in Indonesia but is now commonly found in other parts of South East Asia, particularly Malaysia. Angklung is often presented as a group entertainment for government functions or to accompany dance performances like Kuda Kepang.

TRADITIONAL MALAY GAMES

The exciting moment of visiting villages in a rural area is to witness traditional games being played. Join the excitement learning about Malay culture by having fun over some traditional games with us.

CONGKAK

This game requires the players to place small ‘fruits’ (buah) into the ‘pits’(holes) of a piece of oval-shaped wooden board known as the papan congkak. The purpose is to test the player’s skills in capturing as many ‘fruits’ as possible from the opponent.

Time: 2.30pm – 3.30pm

DAM AJI

This game is usually played in the afternoon as one-to-one. This game is played by moving a game piece one step forward either to the left or to the right up until a game piece reaches the status of ‘buah aji’ or ‘king’.

Time: 3.00pm – 3.30pm

SEPAK RAGA

The purpose is to test the skills of the players in kicking the ball, knocking the ball with his head, chest or knees and making sure it does not fall onto the ground. Only a rattan ball (bola raga) is required for this game.

TRADITIONAL MALAY COOKING CLASS

Spice things up and experience Malay’s culture differently through our Traditional Malay Cooking Package.

MALAY DISHES

Have fun learning about the recipes and regional influences of the dishes by a skillful chef. Visitors could also reward themselves by buying and enjoying the satisfying dish they made in the class.
